Welcome to Week 1.
This week isn't about deciding anything about your future — it's about collecting the evidence. You're building a Skills Inventory: an honest, unfiltered list of what you can already do, translated into language that makes sense outside your old field.
The hypothesis: you already have more transferable capability than you currently give yourself credit for. This thread is where we test it.
What to do:
Work through the table in your Week 1 guide — aim for 12–15 rows by Sunday, a few a day rather than all at once. Mix professional wins with the hobby/dormant stuff you've never called a "skill." Post your progress here anytime this week.
Post here when:
- 🟢 Early in the week — Share 1–2 rows that came easily. Read someone else's and tell them a skill you can see in their story that they didn't translate themselves.
- 🟡 Mid-week — Share your hardest row to fill — the "I don't know if this counts" one. That's usually where a dormant skill is hiding.
- 🔵 End of week — Share your favorite translation line — the one you'd actually say out loud to a stranger.
A couple of ground rules for this thread:
- No editing yourself down before you post. If you're unsure it counts, that's exactly the entry to share.
- When you comment on someone else's row, name the skill — don't just say "wow amazing." Specificity is the whole point this week.
Questions about the exercise itself also go here — if something in the table is confusing or you're stuck on a row, ask. Someone in the cohort has probably hit the same wall.
Go collect your data. 🔬
