Welcome to Week 6, and welcome to Phase Three : Who I Will Be.
Five weeks of work gets used for the first time this week. This isn't about picking the right career yet — it's about making sure you're choosing from a real set of options, not the first three that came to mind. Most people's option list is artificially narrow because it only contains paths that already have a name, a job title, a category on a job board. The options most worth having usually don't.
The hypothesis: the right option is rarely the first one you think of. It's usually somewhere further down the list, sitting just outside the categories you already know how to name.
What to do:
Build an Options Map using four generation methods — Skill Collision, Adjacent Field Scan, Reverse Job Posting, Hidden Job Hunt — at least two options each, eight total. Run a Fit Check against your Week 2 values and Week 4 identity statements. Then choose one option, ideally not the safest-sounding one, and design a real Small Bet: something you actually build or offer, to a real person, this week, with a real — even if small — transaction as the test.
Post here when:
- 🟢 Early in the week — Share your favorite Hidden Job Hunt or Reverse Job Posting entry. These tend to be the most surprising ones for the group to read.
- 🟡 Mid-week — Share which option you're taking into the Small Bet, and why you didn't pick the safest-sounding one on your map.
- 🔵 End of week — Share your Small Bet Report — even, especially, if the answer was no.
A ground rule for this thread:
A compliment isn't data, and neither is "I'll test it eventually." If the small bet didn't happen, or someone said no, post that plainly — what actually happened, not what you hoped would happen. A clear no is more useful to the group than a vague maybe.
Go find the option without a name yet. 🗺️
